Close Account

In this step-by-step guide, we briefly summarize how you can close the investment account held via LYNX.

Your account has to be completely empty of positions or foreign currencies before the account can be closed.

Click the Review the Checklist button below to navigate to the bottom of this page, where you can review the necessary steps to take before requesting the closure of your account.

Closure

After following the Checklist and making sure the account is ready for closure, click the Close your account button below to initiate the closure process.

Please ensure you have completed these necessary steps before closing your account. 

1. Closing Positions

The first step to close your account is to close your open positions. You can do this yourself or contact our customer service team for assistance.

Alternatively, you can transfer your open positions to another provider. Learn more about outgoing transfers via this link.

2. Converting Currency

Convert any remaining funds to the currency you wish to use for withdrawal. You can find instructions on how to perform a currency conversion here

Note: If you have done a currency conversion, please note that it takes at least 2 business days for this transaction to settle. Your withdrawal request can only be made after this transaction has fully settled. More information can be found here

3. Withdrawing Funds

To close your account, you must withdraw any remaining funds to your bank account. Instructions on how to request a withdrawal can be found here

Before withdrawing the funds, please check the following: 

  • Always verify if there are any dividends to be paid out. It is advisable to wait until all dividends have been received before proceeding with the withdrawal of funds. 
  • All transactions have a settlement period, which means you cannot immediately withdraw funds from a recently closed transaction. You can find more information about settlement periods here

4. Check Your Market Data Subscriptions

 To avoid continued charges until your account is officially closed (with charges for the current month still applicable), ensure you deactivate your real-time market data subscriptions. Instructions for deactivating subscriptions can be found here

Close your Account

Once you have completed the checklist, fill in the Account Closure Form and provide us with your feedback if you would like.

Navigate the form by pressing Continue or take a break by pressing Pause the process. You can go back to the previous page by clicking Back.

Please note that failing to follow any of the above steps correctly may result in your request being put on hold. If you have any questions or if anything is unclear, please reach out to our customer service team

Depending on the type of account, settlement of funds, and the time taken to complete the required steps, this process typically takes about one week on average. 

 If you have paused your request, you can continue or cancel the process in the window at the top left of LYNX+.
